Now that you have got amending your classroom culture underway we can begin to explore the nature of progression and how things might develop over time. Understanding progression shifts the focus, it allows you to move beyond ‘Are they doing this?’ and consider ‘How well are they doing this?’.

- the 4 key learning behaviours – perseverance, questioning, collaboration, and revising.
Understanding progression
Understanding progression in relation to classroom culture provides you as a teacher with a way of understanding and tracking developments in your own classroom culture as it becomes increasingly learning-friendly.
Understanding progression in relation to learning behaviours offers students a way of seeing themselves as a learner beyond present academic performance indicators, and teachers with a framework against which to intentionally grow students’ learning behaviours.
