Why this module is important:
The three key differences between a highly teacher-centred classroom and a learner-focused classroom are that in a learner-focused classroom:
- Learners participate more actively;
- Responsibility is increasingly shared;
- Student dialogue and collaborative learning are in greater evidence.
This module addresses the first of these issues.
Key Question:
How do we counter learner passivity and build active participation?
This session seeks to support teachers to explore and experiment with ideas that build active learning. The five sections invite you to:
- Explore what we mean by active participation;
- Reflect on where you are now;
- Consider some ideas to practise in the classroom;
And either:
4. Plan to change and reflect on your practice as a team;
Or
5. Plan to change and reflect on your practice as an individual.
